Update announcement: renter fee changes

Hello Outdoorsy owners,

We are writing to inform you of a change to our renter fees so that you can answer questions you may receive from renters. This change will only impact Outdoorsy renter service fees and will not impact Outdoorsy owner commission fees or earnings.

We've made these changes based on input that shorter trips can be harder to execute for our owners and, ultimately, sometimes don't make the most economic sense for our owners or Outdoorsy. We hope these changes will help promote and encourage longer stays for our renters. The new renter service fee tiers are as follows:
  • Any bookings with a trip duration of 1-3 nights will have a renter service fee of 15%
  • Any bookings with a trip duration of 4-5 nights will have a renter service fee of 12%
  • Any bookings with a trip duration of 6 nights or longer will remain the same at a renter service fee of 10%
Based on this change, Renter fees range from 10-15% depending on trip length, and none go up to 20%. Renter fees can sometimes get as low as 5% – or in some cases can be waived completely – when we are offering promotions and discounts.

These renter service fee changes will be in effect for any bookings made after 7 p.m. PT on Tuesday, July 20. For bookings made before then, if changes are made to the trip duration, the renter service fee will automatically adjust; you will not need to make any manual adjustments.

I see in the email, the percentages were listed as 5-20%, but the clarification only lists 10-15%. Where does the 5 and 20% come into play?
