For vehicles built in or after 2000:
Outdoorsy provides a $1 million commercial liability policy and a $250,000 commercial comprehensive/collision policy that covers the renter and the owner during the rental period of a reservation made on Outdoorsy. There are no monthly fees or premiums for either the owner or renter. If a claim is made, the $1,500 deductible is the responsibility of the renter; the owner is not responsible for the deductible. Please note that this insurance coverage does not include rentals that occur outside of the Outdoorsy platform (i.e. on another platform or by cash) or while the vehicle is being used for personal use by the owner.
For vehicles built prior to 2000 (1999 and older):
Outdoorsy provides commercial comprehensive and collision insurance up to the value of their vehicle, with a maximum coverage of $75,000. For example, if a vehicle is worth $70,000 and is damaged in an accident, Outdoorsy insurance will pay $70,000. If a vehicle was customized with special additions that result in its total value exceeding $75,000, Outdoorsy insurance will cover up to $75,000. Outdoorsy's commercial liability coverage does not cover vehicles 1999 and older. The owner's options for liability coverage are 1) securing their own commercial liability insurance or 2) requesting that the renter extends their personal liability insurance from their own auto insurance policy to cover liability during the rental period.

What sets Outdoorsy apart?
Outdoorsy is the only peer-to-peer RV rental platform to provide commercial insurance for qualified renters and owners renting on Outdoorsy when the owner's personal RV insurance would not apply. This insurance is embedded in the rental process with no additional premiums or monthly fees. Others may claim insurance - however these options require renters to either apply for binders or owners to purchase additional (and expensive) coverage through a third-party. Outdoorsy's insurance is fully integrated and requires no additional effort outside of basic vehicle information from the owner and a renter background check for each rental.
Outdoorsy's coverage extends to all 50 states, including Hawaii and Alaska, as well as vehicles traveling into Canada. (Our insurance does not extend into Mexico.) The Outdoorsy insurance policy also covers international travelers who agree to an international background check and hold an international driver's license or permit for the class of vehicle that they're renting (i.e. if they have a class B international license, they can't rent a class A vehicle).
Terms to know
Liability coverage includes damages (or pain and suffering) to someone else's vehicle or person, and covers damages caused by an uninsured driver. Liability insurance is required in all states, but the minimum liability varies per state. (You can reference your state's minimum requirements here.)
Comprehensive and collision coverage includes coverage of the owner's vehicle, but not damages to another vehicle.
Personal coverage This is your vehicle's standard insurance and covers vehicle owners when they are using their vehicle for non-commercial purposes (i.e. it is not being rented). The Outdoorsy insurance does not cover or impact personal use insurance.
