Thanks for the information. All the replies here are certainly encouraging. We are located in the San Francisco East Bay area. There are tons of amazing places to go RV-ing within a 3-4 hour drive from here, so I'd assume there's a higher demand than in other parts of the country like NYC where my wife is from :). Also, the local economy is good right now so my assumption is that demand for rentals is higher than when the economy is doing poorly.
One other question I'd be curious to know. As an owner, how much overhead does it take to prepare an RV for rental and then to turn it around for the next rental? 2-3 hours on each end? My wife and I both have full time jobs and a 4 year old so we can't afford to take Fridays and Mondays off each week to do this. I'd be assuming no significant damage or other issues to deal with. Naturally I'd expect routine things like cleaning, refueling, topping off the propane, general checking of engine oil and other systems.
