Welcome to the Outdoorsy Community Forum! We're excited about your first Outdoorsy adventure and are here to answer any questions that you might have. To get started, we created a simple guide to cover the basics.
How to use the platform
Using the Outdoorsy platform is very straightforward. The renting process starts with you indicating where you want to begin your trip. If you find a listing that interests you, go to the right of the page and click "Request Booking" to let the owner know which dates you would like to rent. At this point, the owner will review the request and will approve or deny it. Once approved, the renter will confirm and pay the reservation deposit. Renters can add Coach-Net (roadside assistance) services anytime from paying the deposit up until the pick-up date.
How to become a verified driver
Outdoorsy has made it super simple to get covered under its $1 Million Insurance policy. Simply navigate to your reservation and click the button that says "Get Verified." Another option is to go to "Profile" and click "Verified Driver" to add licenses for any drivers aged 25 and up. Your information will be submitted for a DMV background check and once cleared, you will be approved for insurance coverage.
What should you ask the owner of your booked vehicle
You should clarify with the owner of your vehicle any questions regarding:
- Add on services such as delivery, set-ups, one-way trips
- Generator and/or mileage fees and rules
- Pet policies
- Rentals over one month
- Pick-up and drop-off times and locations
- Extending or canceling a booking
What to do if you have an emergency on the road
Outdoorsy has partnered with Coach-Net to offer roadside assistance services to its owners and renters. Renters can select to add Coach-Net to their reservation for $15/day. Owners cannot extend their personal Coach-Net coverage to renters, so if you do not have a third-party roadside assistance service, we encourage you to opt-in for Coach-Net for your travel period.
If damages occur, please contact the owner immediately. You can also contact firstname.lastname@example.org to get the claims process started for your owner.
What to do if you have to extend or cancel your reservation
If anything changes with your original trip dates (either prior to the trip or during the trip itself), contact the owner immediately to get their approval. If you are in the middle of the booking, contact both the owner and Outdoorsy's support team (email@example.com).
